Soccer Tykes is a fun, engaging, and positive program for young learners. Our goal is to create a healthy and friendly environment for children to come be a part of a team, and to experience the importance of staying active. We offer co-ed classes for boys and girls between the ages of 2 and 5 years old. Our season is 8 weeks long with each class/team meeting once-a-week. We currently have 2 seasons – Fall and Spring. Each season we provide classes to roughly 100 children in the Katy area. Our program is built to teach the basic skills of soccer through a variety of interactive games and scrimmages. Each week we will use different equipment, teach new skills, and introduce new games. Every class is grouped based on age. We modify our curriculum to appropriately fit the needs of each age group. At Soccer Tykes we share a passion for soccer and connecting with young kids in the community around us.
We offer 2 types of programs – Park and Enrichment. Our outdoor program at the park is designed to offer classes to the general public. Our enrichment programs are for daycare centers, pre-school programs, homeschool groups, or church groups during the morning/daytime.

Meet Our Coaches
CHELSEA NELSON (OWNER/COACH):
I am a momma of 2 little girls, and get to do what I love (Soccer Tykes) thanks to my wonderful husband. I graduated from Texas A&M in the class of 2013. I lettered 4 years on the Texas A&M Women’s Soccer team as number 19. During my time at A&M we won multiple conference championships and made multiple runs to the Sweet 16.
My coaching experience includes coaching for a youth soccer program in the Bryan/College Station area, coaching at the annual Texas A&M Soccer Camps and youth clinics, and doing private lessons for girls and boys here in the Katy area. I have coached all ages from 18 months – 18 years old on everything from basic to advanced soccer skills.
I graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Special Education and after multiple years of teaching public school, I realized my dream job was to combine my love for soccer with my love for teaching young children. The result was Soccer Tykes, which was established in 2016. I love working with the youth of the Katy area. I look forward to the coming seasons with your kids!
